Sam Imperati, JD, is the Executive Director of the Institute for Conflict Management, Inc. ICM is a Northwest-based, national provider of mediation, facilitation, and ADR training services. Our goal is "resolution," not just "settlement," where parties walk away equally unhappy. Sam has been an attorney for over thirty-three years, is AV rated, and has managed countless disputes. He has been highly effective in resolving complex cases, facilitating public policy issues, mediating multi-party disputes, and managing matters where emotions run high. He has lectured nationally and internationally on mediation, negotiation, conflict resolution, and ethics.
Sam's legal background includes plaintiff and defense work, management and labor, along with litigation and appeals. He was formerly Assistant Corporate Counsel with Nike, in private practice, and has handled litigation and mediated everything from "Admiralty" to "Zoning." Sam has served as a Judge Pro Tem and as Chair of the Oregon State Bar Alternative Dispute Resolution Section. He appears in the 2006 through 2013 editions of The Best Lawyers in America for mediation. He was the recipient of the Oregon Mediation Association Sid Lezak Award and the OSB ADR Section Lezak award.
