Gene B. Mechanic
I am solely focusing on my mediation practice, applying my 40 years of litigation experience, knowledge and negotiation skills to assist parties in resolving the most complex to the more routine lawsuits. I am certified in litigation mediation by Pepperdine Law School’s Strauss Institute of Dispute Resolution and have many additional hours of mediation training.
Since my first litigation job as a New York State Deputy Assistant Attorney General, I have represented both plaintiffs and defendants in federal and state trial and appellate courts in a wide array of litigation involving employment, labor and business law, ERISA, healthcare, civil rights, contracts, and torts.
I understand the investment litigants make to resolve a lawsuit through mediation and am tenacious in finding solutions for litigants to settle disputes. I pursue a creative, insightful and non-coercive approach to gain the parties' trust. I bring objectivity and even-handedness to the mediation process.
I have an AV preeminent Martindale-Hubbell rating, am listed in Super Lawyers, Best Lawyers (2016 Employment & Labor Lawyer of the Year), and America’s Top 100 High Stakes Litigators (Oregon), and am a Fellow of the College of Labor & Employment Lawyers.
